                                                                   “Why I Write”

Every night at 11:00 pm just before midnight, I always take a nice warm shower, light a candle, and prepare my cozy bed with a glass of mimosa. Virgin of course, sad to say I am not twenty-one. The only thing that’s missing is a book with pink sparkles. That book is literally my best friend. That book is my diary. I tend to write for about one hour each day. I have always questioned why I write. Therefore that night I decided to answer the question “why do I write”.

Well, I  write because I can not verbally express my feelings. I write because when I did verbally express my emotions no one cared. I write because I know I am writing to someone who will listen closely. I write because it helps me escape from the real world. I write because I am freely able to express my feelings without anyone judging me or putting me down. I write because it allows me to gain a deeper connection with my inner self. I write because it helps me strengthen my communication skills. I write because I can create my own lifelong journal. I write because I enjoy writing argumentative essays and research papers. Only in school though!

I write because I am able to compare what I think about on a regular basis. I write to find peace when things go beyond my ability. I write when I am sad and in pain. I write down my future goals so that I can have a clear outline when achieving them. I write down my grocery list therefore I cant buy things I don’t need. I write reminders on my phone so I won’t spend all my money. Every week I write my schedules and to do lists for schools so I can stay on track. I write because of the excitement it makes me feel. It’s as if I was the leprechaun who discovered the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. I sometimes write about love stories that I dreamed of having. I write because it allows me to create a picture of how I would want my life. I also write because it can also be used as a powerful tool. I write because it allows me to talk about the good in my life just as much as the bad. I write because it’s the only way I feel protected and safe from the world.
